Dov Moran Meets Nobel Prize Laureate Prof. John Martinis

Nobel Prize Physics 2025

A few days ago, at the Technion – Israel Institute of Technology, Grove Ventures’ Managing Partner Dov Moran met with Prof. John Martinis, the 2025 Nobel Prize laureate in Physics. Prof. Martinis was recognized for his groundbreaking contributions to quantum computing, particularly his pioneering work in superconducting qubits and his leadership in Google’s landmark quantum supremacy experiment.

Prof. Martinis is widely considered one of the most influential figures in quantum science. His team’s demonstration that a quantum processor could outperform the world’s most powerful classical supercomputers marked a pivotal milestone in the field. Today, he continues to drive scientific and technological progress through Qolab, the company he founded to push quantum systems into their next era of capabilities.

For Dov, the meeting carried special meaning. Grove Ventures is deeply involved in quantum technologies through Quantum Source, a portfolio company developing breakthrough photonic architectures that enable quantum computers to operate with up to 50,000× greater efficiency than today’s leading implementations. The conversation highlighted how superconducting and photonic approaches may converge to accelerate real-world quantum applications.

The gathering, organized by Qubit IL – Israel’s Quantum Tech Association, Qolab, and Finnegan, Henderson, Farabow, Garrett & Dunner, LLP, brought together leaders, researchers, and innovators shaping the global future of quantum technologies.
